Individual Art Psychotherapy
Do you get anxious about setting or keeping boundaries? Do you feel responsible for everyone’s well-being or feel guilty when you don't step in? You're not alone, and relationships don't have to be this way!
I specialize in helping those who struggle overcome guilt, anxiety, and exhaustion to experience what balanced, fulfilling connection with others looks like. You don’t have to love others less in order to love yourself more. Using a blend of art therapy and talk therapy, we can create a sacred space that's just yours to fill, no art experience or skill required!
Often, what brings us to therapy is just a small part of a much bigger picture. I use a variety of approaches to support two main goals: first, to help you make sense of that bigger picture and move toward acceptance; and second, to take ownership of it, transforming your story into one of empowerment and well-being.
Art can express what feels too complex for words, helping you make sense of your experience and reclaim your story. Together, we’ll build a personalized path toward healing, healthier relationships, and uncover the you that was there all along.

A message to future clients
The majority of my clients identify themselves as some sort of giver. Usually they find themselves in unhealthy relationship patterns where they may feel anxious, avoidant, or indecisive while trying to get close to partners, friends, and family.
Many start with reporting feelings of insecurity, embarrassment, hopelessness, helplessness, anxiety, depression, burnout, guilt, or a pattern of feeling used in relationships.
Most of my clients do not consider themselves artists when they begin art therapy, but quickly find it helpful to uncover and express thoughts and experiences that are too complicated for words alone.
Many people who want to heal find themselves going in circles trying to figure out how to move forward in cognitive and behavioral therapies.
As my supervisor, Dr. Mike Zoda always says about difficult emotions, “most people try to analyze to control, not connect to release.”
But when you’re someone who has spent your life reading the emotions and needs of others, how do you even start to connect to your own without feeling selfish, anxious, or out-of-control? Often analyzing is easier, but only gets you so far.
My goal is to help you discover what’s blocking your process, and help you release it.
My therapeutic approach uses the power of neuroscience-informed art therapy and attachment theory to rewire your brain, heal from trauma, and finally process the blocked-up feelings holding you back.
Most of my clients do not consider themselves artists when they begin art therapy, but quickly find it helpful to uncover and express thoughts and experiences that are too complicated for words alone.
To process these experiences, I integrate concepts from attachment theory, psychodynamic therapy, family systems, and interpersonal neurobiology (IPNB), HeartSync, and Emotionally-Focussed Individual Therapy (EFIT).
While we process the emotions and experiences that you choose to, the art materials we use to make this happen will be thoughtfully selected based on contemporary research of the neuroscience of art therapy and trauma.
At the same time, I will teach you practical tools—primarily from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)—to develop real-world skills for managing day to day stressors and make some immediate improvements.
As clients heal, they increase capacity to experience joyful and secure connection with others. For many people I work with, they experience the most significant changes in this area through a personal, loving relationship between them and God. If this is something you would like to incorporate into your treatment, just ask!
My clinical experience comes primarily from my work in residential treatment with adolescents and adults facing complex and life-long issues such as trauma, substance addiction, grief, personality disorders, self-harm, suicidal ideation, and major mood disorders.
This background has equipped me to hold space for clients whose challenges may feel overwhelming, long-standing, or too big to change.
Remember, you are always in the driver’s seat and you will never be asked to do what you don’t want to or aren’t ready for! If you are curious about working with me and want to know more about if I can help, please reach out! Send me a message, or reserve a 10-minute free video consultation.
Whether we work together or not, my hope for you is that you find deep and lasting healing, experience the joy of life, and find rest in your soul.
With love,
Danielle
